Unwell
Sometimes when I am at school, I don't feel so well.
" Feeling unwell can happen at anytime of the day ", Mummy told me.
When I am unwell at school, sometimes I am allowed to go home.
I am usually allowed to go home when I am very, very sick, that's not so often for me.
Some children in my class have to go home often, because they have partial disabilities', and can't stay in school all the time, like other children.
These children usually have special needs and a special needs teacher who accompanies them three days a week, to help them have normal learning sessions'.
Mummy told me, that this is because some disabled children have a slower rate at learning then normal range children, and it takes them a small amount of extra time to catch up on regular learning.
Mummy told me, that because our school has a selective disabled unit, that some of my disabled friends will even go on to have a good career.
When I am unwell at school
My teacher
My teacher is usually very good when I am unwell, she asks me to sit down, she feels me forehead. Mummy told me, that the teacher does this to see if I have a temperature.
If I am very hot, and cant work and play, the teacher takes my hand and walks' with me, we go straight to the reception area where all the reception ladies deal with the parents', and everyday problems'.
Mrs Keen, is the lady who deals' with all the sick children during the day.
" Take a seat ", She always' say's, " Now what's wrong with you today ? ".
" I don't feel so well, I had to visit the toilet twice today, and each time I was sick ", I Said.
" I think that mean's you need to go home ", She told me.
" You know we don't call home unless your very, very sick " She Said, " As I can see, you look very pale and maybe, you caught a small bug, these mild sicknesses are common on first days back at school.
Mrs Keen always smiled and made me feel comfortable.
She was very talkative, and would never let me sit alone and or in silence.
" I am going to call your Mummy, immediately ", She Said.
" Yes, " She Said,
" I have your daughter in reception, yes ", She Said.
" No, no, she's definitely unwell, you'll have to come in to collect her , no, no, we can't do that, that's against school policies', O.K , O.K ", She Said, " We'll see you then ".
I waited a while, Mrs Keen gave me some drawing paper and pencils', to make me feel better, while I waited for my Mum, to arrive.
I didn't feel like drawing that day, my tummy was feeling very poorly.
When Mummy arrived
I was so happy to see her, I just wanted to go home and go straight to bed.
" O.K " Mummy Said, " I cant stop to talk Mrs Keen, " I have to go straight back
to work ", Mummy looked down at me, while I was holding her hand. " Daddy's at home ".
Mummy said thank-you to Mrs Keen, " Maybe she'll be better tomorrow ", Mummy Said, as we started to leave.
"Yes ", Said Mrs Keen, " Maybe we'll see you tomorrow " She Said, as she was pulling out some reporting paper from under her desk.
" Don't forget, if she's sick for more then five days', she'll will be needing a Doctors review letter ".
" O.K, Mrs Keen, we really need to be off now, bye " We both said, leaving the double school doors'.
Arriving home
Mummy opened the car door, " Go straight in ", She Said, closing the door behind me.
Daddy opened the door, gave me a kiss on my check, patted my head, felt my tummy and Said " Umm, Straight to bed for you, I'll bring for you some medicine, but if your off school, you must get some bed rest ", He Said, as he shut our front door.
